Adidja Azim Palmer, born 7 January 1976 in Waterford district in Jamaica is a Jamaican reggae dancehall artist. He is one of the leading and talented dancehall stars of our time. He was only 12 years of age when he released his first single titled ” Fat Women.” He eventually became the protege of Bounty Killer. His prolific gifting has made him able to write for Bounty Killer and Scare Dem Crew featuring Elephant Man. He collaborated with Wayne Marshall on some songs in 2002 and won the DJ of the year at Stone Love sound system’s 30th anniversary the same year. Amongst many singles like “Romping Shop” (2009) and ” Dancehall Hero” (2010)  he has made a name for himself and has received great credibility over the Caribbean culture as a whole. He has collaborated with prominent and internationally recognized artists like Rihanna and Jay-Z. Drake has termed Vybz Kartel as one of his “biggest inspirations” Vybz Kartel has also released a good number of diss tracks directed at Bounty Killer’s protege, Mavado. Vybz has his own record label called Adidjahieim Records.

In 2014, Vybz Kartel was charged with murdering his associate, Clive “Lizard” William. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and is eligible for parole after serving 35 years in prison. Amazingly, imprisonment could not stop the superstar from delivering new songs to his fans. His album “King of Dancehall” released in 2016 continued to hit the streets.
