Dufton Taylor was born on 13 March 1972 in Kingston, Jamaica. Taylor began his sound system and selector business in high school. He got his start in the sound system arena in the early 1990s firstly on Inner City Sound System then on King Addies in Brooklyn, New York together with Babyface. Taylor left Addies in 1998 to form his own sound and he won several international clashes including the UK Cup Clash and World Clash Jamaica. In the summer of 2006, he broke through with his massive hit “Dutty Wine” and it drew a lot of attention in the country as it was played on R&B and rap stations. His name Matterhorn comes from ‘Matterhorn’ a brand of cigarettes in Jamaica. Taylor continues to tour and record as both a deejay and a soundman.
