Fact-Checking Policy
At Riddims World, we aim to publish accurate, clear and trustworthy information across our website. As a reggae, dancehall, soca and afrobeats riddim database and music publication active since 2008, we recognise the importance of getting key details right, including tracklists, artist names, producer credits, label references, release years and related editorial context.
This Fact-Checking Policy explains how we review and verify information before and after publication on RiddimsWorld.com.
Our Approach to Fact-Checking
We make reasonable editorial efforts to verify factual information before publishing or updating content. The level of fact-checking may vary depending on the type of page, the age of the release, the availability of reliable source material, and whether the information relates to a current release, a catalogue entry, or historical archive content.
We aim to check relevant details such as:
- Riddim names
- Artist names
- Track titles
- Producer and label credits
- Release years or release dates
- Album, EP, single or riddim associations
- Streaming or platform references
- General descriptive and historical information
The Foundation of Our Database
A large part of the Riddims World database traces back to the personal collection of our founder, Riddimz Kalacta, who has been collecting riddims since the early 2000s. Many of our earliest tracklists were catalogued directly from his own vinyl, CDs and cassettes — firsthand physical sources that predate much of the riddim information now found online.
Our archive also descends from foundational online efforts, including Pupa Vlado’s reggae-riddims.com and the Camphouse Index, which helped seed much of the early riddim data that exists today. We have additionally collaborated with Riddim-ID over the years, exchanging information to fill gaps and improve accuracy across both databases. This combination of firsthand collection, established archives and ongoing collaboration informs much of the historical data we publish.
Sources We May Use
Depending on the page and the information available, our editorial process may involve reviewing one or more of the following:
- Firsthand physical media in our own archive — vinyl labels, CD inserts and cassette J-cards
- Official artist, producer or label information
- Artist, producer and label submissions
- Official audio platform listings
- Official artwork and release graphics
- Trusted distributor sources such as VP Records, Zojak and OneRPM
- Digital music store and streaming metadata
- Reference archives including Discogs, ReggaeFever, Riddim-ID and DancehallMag
- Press releases and promotional materials
- Archived site records and historical database entries
- Other publicly available music-reference sources considered reasonably reliable for the context
Because music metadata can differ across platforms and over time, we may compare multiple sources before deciding how to present a credit, title, release year, or tracklist.
Limitations of Music Metadata
Music information is not always consistent. Different platforms, labels, uploaders, distributors and promotional materials may list different release years, track names, producer credits, cover versions, or artist formatting. Some releases are reissued, retitled, repackaged, region-specific, or uploaded again years later.
For that reason, fact-checking in music publishing sometimes involves editorial judgment. Where source information conflicts, we aim to use the version that appears most credible and best supported by available evidence — giving particular weight to firsthand physical media and official label or distributor information where we have it.
How We Handle Historical and Archive Content
Riddims World includes a large archive of music-related content built over many years, much of it rooted in our founder’s original collection and the early archives noted above. Older pages may contain information that was accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time but may later require correction, clarification or expansion as better evidence becomes available.
We may update archive content to:
- Correct inaccurate details
- Add missing credits or track information
- Improve wording or clarity
- Reflect better-supported release data
- Remove obvious formatting or metadata errors
Editorial Review Standards
We aim to review factual content carefully, but not every page goes through the exact same process. Database-style entries, release overviews, archive pages, artist profiles and editorial articles may differ in format and depth. Even so, our goal remains the same: to present information that is as accurate, useful and clear as reasonably possible.
Reader, Artist and Label Feedback
We welcome factual corrections and relevant feedback from readers, artists, producers, labels, rights holders and official representatives. This is especially important in music publishing, where firsthand or official release knowledge can help improve the accuracy of credits, dates and tracklists.
If you believe a page on Riddims World contains a factual error, please contact us with:
- The URL of the page
- A clear description of the issue
- The corrected information
- Any supporting evidence or official reference
Please see our Corrections Policy for more information on how reported errors are reviewed and handled.
No Guarantee of Perfection
While we strive for accuracy, no large music database or publication can guarantee that every page is free from errors at all times. Music metadata is often fluid, inconsistent and incomplete. Our commitment is not to claim perfection, but to maintain a responsible editorial process and to correct verified inaccuracies when they are identified.
Editorial Independence
Fact-checking decisions are made independently and in good faith based on the information available to us. We do not change factual content simply because of promotional pressure, commercial influence, or disagreement with fair editorial judgment.
Policy Updates
We may update this Fact-Checking Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our editorial process, content standards or site operations. Any updated version will be posted on this page.
