Pressure Busspipe, born Delyno Brown, is a reggae artist from
St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands whose music has helped carry
Virgin Islands roots reggae to a wider Caribbean and international
audience. He first came up through the Star Lion sound system and
family of young performers that gave him early stage experience,
then built his reputation as a solo singer with a style that blends
conscious lyrics, melody, and a strong island sensibility. His name
became especially familiar in Jamaica after the breakthrough
success of “Love and Affection,” a song that helped introduce his
voice to a broader reggae audience and has remained one of his most
recognisable recordings.
From there, Pressure Busspipe developed a steady career as an
artist closely tied to the sound and spirit of the U.S. Virgin
Islands. His early releases, including The Pressure Is On and
Coming Back for You, established him as a thoughtful singer with a
roots foundation, while later projects showed a wider range and a
more polished studio approach. Records such as The Sound and Red
Rose kept his profile active and confirmed his place among the most
visible reggae voices from the territory. He has also worked under
his own Busspipe Records banner, which gave him more control over
his output and presentation.
What sets Pressure Busspipe apart is the way he carries local
identity into songs that still travel well beyond the islands. His
music often reflects everyday life, spiritual conviction, and the
pride and pressure of coming from a small place with a strong
musical tradition. That balance of roots message and accessible
melody has made him a familiar name across reggae circuits, whether
he is recording for a studio project, appearing on a riddim
compilation, or performing material that connects directly with
Caribbean audiences. Recent site releases such as “Pon Di Island
Riddim” and “This Is Love Riddim” fit naturally with the lane he
has long occupied: reggae built on feeling, uplift, and island
perspective.
