Romain Virgo

Romain Virgo, born on 24 January 1990 in Stepney, Jamaica, is a reggae artist who specializes in lovers rock. Virgo’s career began when he won a choir competition on television in 2006 and proceeded to be the youngest winner at the Digicel Rising Star contest in 2007 where he won a contract with Greensleeves Records and a cash prize equivalent to 6656 Euros. Donovan Germain of Penthouse label produced Virgo’s smashing hit titled “Mi Caan Sleep.” A few hit singles like “Wanna Go Home”, “Alton’s Medley”, and”Live Mi Life” also followed. VP Records released his self-titled album in June 2010. Rebel Salute, Weddy Weddy, and Passa Passa where some of the platforms that Romain performed and he got the opportunity to tour the USA with Munga and Capleton. In addition to his music career, Virgo studied holds a Visual and Performing Arts bachelor degree minoring in keyboard and majoring in voice. Nicholas Browne of Lifeline Music produced a rendition of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” in 2014 and it did exceptionally well in a good number of Caribbean countries. Virgo as a youngster experiencing childhood in country Saint Ann imitated his cousin Bryan Art, a setup vocalist and musical artist who has practical experience in Roots Reggae and Lover’s Rock. VP Records released his album Lovesick in 2018 which made it to the very top in  Billboard Reggae Albums chart. “Never Make Her Sad” was the title track for his music video released in December 2019 dedicated to his mother. Virgo’s fan base keeps expanding as his talent gets better and better as his years of experience increase.
