Sheldon Taylor was born on 29 July 1986. Growing up he always dreamt of becoming a fireman but he began to entertain others in primary school with his music. All through High school, it was evident that he was talented both academically and in extracurricular activities and his mother noticed how special and versatile he was. She then suggested he call himself Versatile and the name was endorsed by Mario C of 357 Records.
Under Romeich Records, Taylor recorded “Bank Inna Pocket” which received major airplay contributing to his popularity. On the same label, he wrote songs for Bounty Killer and Beenie Man which led to him being able with Beenie man in the US, UK, Canada, the Caribbean, Uganda, and Kenya. He also performed on shows like Summer Sizzle in 2009. He has since created his own label which he has named after his son Damani. Under this label, he has produced the “Snub Out” riddim which features artists like Beenie Man, Laden, D’Angel, and Versatile himself.
