Dark Skies Riddim (2013) – Young Vibez Production

Young Vibez Production’s Dark Skies Riddim landed in 2013 with a moody, mid-tempo dancehall pulse that sits around the 106 BPM mark and gives the vocals plenty of room to breathe. The rhythm has that early-2010s glossy street feel: dark synth color, a steady drum pattern, and just enough space for each singer or deejay to shape the cut without the production getting crowded. It came out on October 3, 2013, and the project was issued as a seven-track set.

The anchor points are easy to hear. I-Octane’s Fly Away brings the reflective side of the riddim, while Jahmiel’s Better Tomorrow fits his early reputation for sharp, hopeful songwriting with a youth-conscious edge. Popcaan dominates the set with three versions of Born Bad, including the raw and radio-edited takes, plus Get High, which gives the riddim its most overt badman pressure and smoke-laced energy. Versatile’s Duh Suh pushes the dancehall talk-and-pose style, and Vybrant’s contribution, listed as Soar, adds another name from the scene’s younger wave.
