Crazy Raving Riddim comes in with that late-night, party-first energy dancehall used to lock in so well: Alison Hinds opens with the cheeky “Body Burn (Dub Up), ” then Chico, Determine, Danny English and Vybz Kartel keep the pressure on without letting the groove sag. It was issued by 17A Records in October 2014, and the 10-track run keeps the whole thing tight at just under 40 minutes. Vybz Kartel’s “Party Til Sun Up” is the obvious hook, but the sequencing around it matters just as much, moving from Alison Hinds’ opener into a string of straight-to-the-floor cuts before closing with Aisha Davis’ “Dance. ” That ordering feels deliberate: the producer is clearly pacing the riddim for a continuous dancefloor lift rather than a pile-up of unrelated singles.
