Jealous Riddim – S U Records

Jealous Riddim catches that mid-2010s dancehall pulse with a sharp, slightly combative edge, and S U Records keeps it moving with a dozen cuts that lean more gritty than glossy. The strongest moments come from Jah Rhyno’s “Bad And Jealous” and Di Gredda’s “Get Gal Easy, ” while Black Fit and Chycoon’s “Lets Go” and Kallz with Yung Drewz on “Champion” add a bit more bounce to the sequence. There’s a nice regional feel to the lineup too, with voices like Awiri, Merchant, Mingale, Ndumile, and Xyross Fyah all giving the riddim different shades of attitude without losing the core vibe. By the time it reaches the closing stretch, “Zikamandiyendela” and the final instrumental finish the set off with the same dry, taut energy that runs through the whole 2014 drop.
