Silver Star Riddim – 17a Records

Silver Star Riddim comes in lean and vocal-heavy, with seven cuts and Alozade’s “Party Life” out front. 17A Records keeps the energy in that stripped, mid-tempo dancehall pocket, letting the deejays carry the weight rather than piling on gimmicks, and Colly C’s “Jah Your Love” and Richie Brema’s “Girl’s Medley” help give the set a little more texture. It feels like a cleaner, tighter cousin to some of the label’s later riddim work, less flashy than the usual one-drop-and-forward formula but still aimed straight at the dance. For 17A, it sits neatly in that run of 2018 compilations where the focus was on a small cast and a straightforward bashment swing.
