Jim Screechie Riddim came out in 2010 from Equiknoxx Music, and it quickly turned into one of those dancehall projects that got passed around for its bright, bouncing feel and memorable vocal cuts. Aidonia’s Jackhammer, Beenie Man’s Beat Dem Badd, and Spice’s Jim Screechie were among the standout tracks, with the latter helping give the riddim its name. Equiknoxx were already carving out a distinctive lane in Jamaican dancehall, and this release shows that playful, left-of-center touch without losing the street energy that made the rhythm work.
