Xxx Riddim – Good Good Productions

Assassin’s “Convertable” is the sharpest way into Good Good Productions’ XXX Riddim, a 2011 dancehall set that keeps a slick, streetwise energy moving through every cut. Bugle and Jahmiel bring the pain on “Sufferation, ” while I-Octane doubles up with “Enemy Yaad” and the Versatile collaboration “Nah Eat, ” which sits nicely against the riddim’s taut, no-nonsense bounce. There’s a nice pull between the harder-edged voices and the cleaner, more chantable hooks, and that’s where Good Good gets the lane right: the production leaves enough room for the artists to bark, reason, and ride the groove without crowding them. D’Angel’s “This Year” adds a lighter touch, and Tony Matterhorn with Tiger keep the energy up on “Ready We Ready, ” along with the version at the end.
