Cure Pain Riddim - Good Good Productions

Good Good Productions turned Cure Pain into one of those 2016 dancehall juggling sets that felt aimed squarely at the sound system lane: clean, modern, and built for voices with attitude. The label, based in Montego Bay and closely associated with Zum, had already developed a reputation for polished rhythm work and a steady stream of compilations, and this one sat right in that run. The instrumental landed in late February 2016, with digital releases following through Good Good Productions and 21st Hapilos.

The riddim itself has a taut midtempo swing, sitting around 101 BPM, with a crisp, steely bounce under the vocals rather than a heavy bashment stomp. It leaves room for melody, but the production keeps enough bite for straight-talking lyrics and streetwise hooks. That balance is why the set works: the groove is flexible, but it never loses its edge.

Alkaline’s My Side of the Story is the obvious anchor, riding the riddim with the kind of clipped confidence that made him one of the era’s biggest young voices. Mavado’s Big League gives the project its anthemic push, turning the beat into a boast record about elevation and status. Bugle’s Priority and Jahmiel’s Where Were U bring a more conscious, reflective tone, while Ky-Mani Marley’s Rule My Heart adds a smoother roots-dancehall contrast. Demarco, I-Octane, Masicka, Bryka, Kapella Don, Rhyming King, and Showtime Damion round out a release that moves between war talk, personal testimony, and uplift without losing cohesion.

It is the kind of riddim that speaks to 2016 dancehall’s blend of melody, aggression, and social commentary, with enough strong cuts to keep selectors circling back.
