A few of the cuts on North Beach Riddim lean hard into the party side of dancehall, with the instrumental itself giving off that bright, waistline-ready swing that sits nicely under the more playful vocals. Caldhino’s “Private Dance” and Maldini’s “Motion Wine” are the obvious pull-ins here, while Harry Todler’s “Head Gone” and Shadowblacks’ “Wine It” keep the energy moving without the rhythm ever feeling crowded. High Expectations Productions kept it tight too: this 2011 set runs 10 tracks, with nine artists over the same riddim, which gives it that compact one-drop of releases from the era where every song had to catch quick and hit clean.
