Intensity Riddim – Chimney Records

Intensity Riddim came out in 2011 from Chimney Records, the Jamaican production duo of Jordan McClure and David “Hizzle” Hayle, a name that was already building serious weight in dancehall through polished juggling projects and crossover-minded production. The beat sits in that early-2010s Chimney sweet spot: clean, digital, and punchy, with a brisk dancehall swing that leaves room for both raw chat and more melodic turns.

The line-up is anchored by Beenie Man, whose “Wreck The Runway” gives the rhythm its biggest instant-recognition pull, and I-Octane, who brings the conscious, streetwise tone he was becoming known for at the time. Future Fambo’s “Toast” adds a playful toast-and-party angle, while Iyara and Patexxx keep the energy rooted in straight dancehall swagger. Keida’s “My Body” brings a more feminine, club-ready edge, and the clean/raw doubles for Beenie Man, Grung Gaad, and Energy Gaad underline how the riddim was built for juggling in the dance.

What makes Intensity work is the tension between its title and its restraint: it has drive without sounding overcrowded. The bassline stays forward, the drums hit hard, and the arrangement leaves just enough open space for the artists to punch through.
