World Premiere Riddim – Chimney Records

World Premiere arrived in 2010 from Chimney Records, the Kingston production house founded by Jordan McClure and David Hayle. By that point, Chimney had already earned a name for sharp, radio-ready dancehall with clean bass weight and a polished finish that still kept enough street bounce for the sound system. This one fits right into that run.

The riddim moves with a brisk, bright step and a hard bounce underneath, the kind of slick digital framework that leaves room for melody, talk-up, and fast-switching chat. It has the forward push of late-2000s dancehall but enough gloss to feel like a crossover-ready jugglin’ package. On it, the names do plenty of the heavy lifting: Assassin brings “Treasure” with his usual clipped confidence, Bugle turns “All Me A Pree” into a focused chant, and Chris Martin’s “Fashionable” plays to his smoother, more melodic side. Mavado’s “She Beat Him” adds the rougher edge that always made him a natural on Chimney productions, while Elephant Man’s “From Yuh Born” keeps the energy high. Delly Ranx linking with Jr and Brian Gold on “Kingston City” gives the set a stronger crew feel, and Raine Seville’s “Break Away” adds a softer female touch that widens the riddim’s range.

Elsewhere, Demarco, Flexx, Chase Cross, Bramma and Chan all help round out a juggling that was clearly designed for heavy rotation rather than just one breakout cut. It’s a snapshot of a period when Chimney was pressing crisp, competitive dancehall that could move from street corners to airwaves without losing its bite.
