Bena Productions and Y-Not Productions were already carving out their 2015 dancehall lane with Conversion Riddim, a 31-minute, nine-artist set that leans on sharp, dancefloor-ready writing and a taut instrumental built for both clean cuts and raw talk. Versatile opens the proceedings with “Any Gyal” in clean and raw versions, while Masicka’s “Fuck We A Fuck” and Jula’s “Waan Money Nuff” keep the energy locked in the gritty, slyly playful pocket the riddim seems to favor. There’s a nice contrast too: Tactical’s “What A Gyal Can Whine” and Don Vital’s “Bend Ova and Slow Wine” push the more seductive angle, while “Give Thanks” from Vision adds a lighter touch before the instrumental closes things out. The release arrived on February 13, 2015, with 11 tracks in all, including the riddim cut.
