Sheldon Campbell, born on 11 January 1980 in Mannings Hill, Jamaica is a reggae musician. He is a member of the Bobo Shanti. Turbulence nurtured his talent during his school years at St. Andrew’s Technical High School. Philip “Fatis” Burrell discovered him in 1999. He is popularly known for his song “Blood Dem Out.” It featured on “Show and Prove”, a freestyle ski movie that constitutes high viewership. United and Notorious are just but a few of the albums he has released. A documentary in 2007 called Rise Up, showcases Turbulence’s path to stardom. It shows the reality of underground music inside Jamaica. Turbulence rose to the limelight internationally and still remains a nationally celebrated reggae artist, who expresses his views on political and social insights through his music. Rise up was screened at various film festivals such as IDFA and Hot Docs. At the AFI/Discovery Channel Silverdocs Festival it was awarded the Best Music Documentary category. “Notorious” was the single released on the Scallawah riddim in 2004 and it was top on most Jamaican charts as well as internationally in New York City, Japan, London, and Toronto in 2005. In 2006, it was re-released and featured on the Notorious album in 2006. As a well-known artist, he has traveled internationally and has grown his brand in leaps and bounds. In 2012, he released a 14 track album entitled Celebration of Life. “Criminal” was a hit single he did in 2014 on the Empire riddim. In 2019, he made a video on the popular single “You Are Gone.” He had to postpone his 2020 tours due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his fan base awaits his performance with eagerness.
