Acoustic Souls Riddim finds Loud City working in a more intimate lane than the usual bashment-heavy juggling. The acoustic guitar figure gives the riddim its name and its character, with a warm, laid-back pulse that sits closer to roots reggae and lovers rock than straight dancehall. Released in 2015, it runs as a slim five-track project with an instrumental cut at the center of the package.

Jesse Royal opens the set with Next To You, bringing the same youthful roots energy that helped mark him as one of the more promising voices of his generation. His melody rides the track smoothly, and the song’s romantic pull fits the riddim’s softer edge. Khago follows with Playing With Fire, adding his sharper, more direct delivery and a bit more bite to the arrangement. Kranium’s In My Life brings the clearest lovers-rock touch here, with his smooth, plaintive style sitting naturally over the acoustic bed. Turbulence closes the vocal run with When You’re Gone, and his forceful tenor gives the project a more emotional lift without breaking its easy sway.
