Henne Riddim – Allfaces Entertainment

Allfaces Entertainment keeps Henne Riddim tight and to the point: just three cuts, all from familiar voices who know how to work a straight dancehall groove. The 2019 project lines up Turbulence, Courtney Melody, and Teflon Young King over a compact, no-frills rhythm, and the sequencing gives it a nice arc without overloading the ears. Turbulence comes in hard with “Soldier, ” Courtney Melody’s “Focus Along the Way” leans more reflective, and Teflon closes it out with the sharper, more direct “Shut It Down. ” It’s a short set, but that brevity works in its favor, letting the individual songs breathe instead of getting lost in a pile of voices. Teflon’s “Shut It Down” leaves the strongest final impression, the kind of cut that sticks after the riddim fades.
