Radion Tashaman Beckford was born on 19 September 1982 in St Mary Jamaica to his parents Herbert Beckford and Kathleen Edis. He was raised by his father in New Kingston. In school and throughout he was known as a dancer. Artists like Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man inspired his love for music. In 2003 his family moved to Golden Spring, St Andrew.
His name, Chi Ching Ching came after he began creating slangs mostly comical and catchy and the children loved these such that they chanted the slags whenever they saw him. Chi began to get noticed when he released his first hit single titled ‘Lock Pon Di Ting’ which he collaborated with Big League Productions. This was followed by songs like ‘Breadfruit’ and ‘Get There’ and his collaborations with artists like Gabbi Don and Don Andre.
Chi has since collaborated with artists like Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Bling Dawg, and Tonny Matterhorn and these collaborations led to the release of his debut album, ‘Turning Tables’. He also released ‘Popcorn Pop’ which also became popular. Chi has been recognized as ‘Best Entertainer’ and the ‘Outstanding Contribution In Dancehall’ award.
