Back in 2016, when dancehall was leaning hard into crisp digital rhythms and quick-hit party records, Allstate Riddim came through with a tight seven-song run from Biglaugh Music and Sasaine Music Groups. Chi Ching Ching’s “Which State” has that playful, talk-to-the-crowd energy he does so well, while Jahvillani’s “Life A The Greatest” feels more stripped-back and hungry, the kind of cut that points to the young badman wave he was riding at the time. Darrio’s “Love Situations” adds a smoother, more melodic turn, and the fact it was issued in both radio and raw versions says a lot about how the project was being pitched. With Xklusive, Zagga, and Di Rebel filling out the set, this is a compact late-2016 dancehall package that keeps the focus on personality and attitude.
