Dutty Rock Productions keeps the Rope Riddim short and sharp, and that suits the way the beat moves: a taut dancehall groove with a bouncy low end, clipped percussion and enough space for the vocals to work the hook. Released in 2018, it came through Sean Paul’s own label, a home base that had already become a proper outlet for his circle and for newer voices around him.

Chi Ching Ching gets the first real lift here with Rope, and that makes sense. The Kingston deejay has always had a bright, animated style, the kind that rides a rhythm with chants, ad-libs and quick turns of phrase rather than heavy lyrical weight. Sean Paul follows with Spin It, and his cut pushes the riddim toward the punchy, international dancehall sound he has spent years refining: clean phrasing, a big chorus and a slick, club-ready feel. Charly Black closes with Up Top, bringing a more swaggering, singjay approach and the kind of everyday party talk that has long powered his biggest records.
