Bass-heavy and cheeky, the Player Riddim leans into that mid-2010s dancehall pocket where sharp one-liners and nimble delivery ride a clean, syncopated groove. Bassrunner Productions keeps the field tight with six cuts, and the best of the bunch have a sly, streetwise edge: Chi Ching Ching’s “So We Do It (So We Dweet)” snaps with effortless swagger, Jami Dread turns in a tougher “Gal Criminal, ” and the Red Fox and Chico pairing on “Mouth Bad Boy” adds a lively back-and-forth that gives the set some extra bite. Notch’s “Wet Dreaming” and Slonesta’s “Jump and Run” keep the mood playful, but the whole thing feels aimed at sound system play rather than radio polish, with that crisp, rolling bassline doing the heavy lifting.
