Man A Fighter Riddim – Mad Outta Road

Berlin-based Mad Outta Road turned out a pointed piece of 2014 dancehall here, and the whole thing sits on a drum-heavy, synth-forward riddim that carries a stubborn, survivalist mood from the first drop. The lineup leans international without losing its ragga edge: I Razor and Konshens lock onto the biggest cut with “Dem A Suffa, ” while Deadly Hunta’s “Can’t Break Me” and Danny Ranks’ “Killing Approbation” keep the message in that defiant, no-surrender register. D-Flame’s “Auf Der Flucht” adds a German-language twist that fits the project’s cross-border feel, and the rest of the voices — Jami Dread, Soul J, Soultrain and Bandulu, Ucee — keep the energy moving. Released in June 2014, it lands right in that period when European dancehall crews were pushing conscious, club-ready riddims with a sharper political edge.
