Anthony Cruz
Rohan Smith was born 17 Decemb er 1974 and he grew up in Mandeville Manchester and he is from a musically talented family including his uncle Garnett Silk, cousin Aaron Silk and parents who were also excellent singers. After graduating from Holmwood Technical High School, he migrated to the USA. After staying for a couple of years in New York, he moved to Miami. In Miami, Cruz met producer Willie Lindo who nurtured his talent, and Cruz’s career blossomed under his wing. Lindo produced Cruz’s debut single, “Tell Me What’s Up” and he continued producing singles for him. Cruz became popular in Miami with his hit, “Just Call My Name”
His debut album produced by Willie Lindo followed and it was titled “Where There Is Love” and it featured hits such as “When You Get Lonely” and “Love Will Never Die”. He advanced his career by recording and performing on shows and events in Miami, New York, and the Bahamas. In 1999 Cruz relocated tr6o Jamaica and recorded his first single back home on the Chemist Label titled “Maria Maria”. He continued recording for other producers songs like “Them Boy Deh Nuh Really Know We” for CJ Records and “You Remind Me” for John John. In December 2005, Cruz released his sophomore album, “Mama Blessing”. Later that year, he launched his independent label Shanshan Music with popular singles like “Never Too Much” featuring Beenie Man and “Burn Dem” featuring Capleton.
In April 2002, Cruz released his third album titled “Fight With All Your Might” on Penthouse/VP Records. In 2010 he released 2 major tracks, “Back Downtown” and “Leader Of The World”. Over the years Cruz has performed in major shows such as Sting, Irie Jamboree, Rebel Salute, Reggae Sunsplash, and many others.
