Klymaxx Riddim – Juke Boxx Productions

Juke Boxx Productions came into the dancehall space with Klymaxx as an early statement, and the rhythm still sounds like the work of a unit that knew how to balance radio-ready polish with street-level pressure. Shane Brown’s camp has since become known for clean, melody-conscious productions and a long run of artist-forward work, but here the focus is on a sharp 2004 juggling that gave voices plenty of room to cut through. The rhythm has a bright, driving swing, with enough bounce to carry party tunes while leaving space for deejays to ride the pocket hard.

The strongest cuts are the ones that hit the riddim’s sweet spot between swagger and singalong ease. Capleton’s “Please Burn Down” brings fire-and-brimstone authority, while Bounty Killer’s “Give Me Them” and Blacka Ranks’ “Ting Deh” lock into the groove with the kind of brash phrasing that made early-2000s dancehall so effective. Anthony Cruz’s “All Night” adds a smoother, more melodic touch, and the pairing of Delly Ranks and Voicemail on “Can You Handle It” gives the project a sharper crew energy. Lady Saw’s “Crime Time” and Macka Diamond’s cuts push the feminine side of the juggling with attitude and command. Shaggy and Kashira’s “Feels Right” rounds things out with a crossover gloss that still sits comfortably inside the dancehall framework.

Klymaxx ends up feeling like one of those rhythms that kept dancehall’s jugglings alive in the CD era: versatile, competitive, and built for selectors to work repeatedly without losing its snap.
