Hi Grade Riddim – B-Rich Records

Hi Grade Riddim came out of B-Rich Records in 2006, and it leans into that early-mid-2000s dancehall lane where the rhythms are tight, the hooks are blunt, and the swagger does most of the talking. The line-up pairs crossover names with sharper street-ready cuts: Beenie Man’s “Unsolved Mysteries, ” Anthony Cruz’s “Bet Yuh Neva, ” Daville’s “No Matter What, ” and Red Rat’s “High” all sit comfortably beside the clash-friendly bite of Vybz Kartel’s “Trick. ” Elephant Man and Tony Curtis add a lighter, party-minded lift on “Good Time, ” while the lone version cut keeps the riddim front and centre. Christopher’s “Yeah” and Mlonie’s “I Can Do Better” round out a set that feels aimed at sound system play, with Kartel’s cut leaving the strongest aftertaste.
