Vanessa Saddler was born in 1991 and grew up in St Andrew, Jamaica. Saddler used to sing in the school and church choirs and as soon as she completed school, she entered the music industry as a backing vocalist for the song, “Only God Knows” by Twin Of Twins. In 2010, she was introduced to Vybz Kartel and the two collaborated on a number of songs. By this time, Saddler had changed her stage name to Gaza Slim and at this time she released songs such as “Mama Said”, “Realest Girl”, “Can’t Do Without Me”, “Stop Gwaan Like Yuh Tough” and many others. Saddler was then implicated in a murder case which involved her friend Vybz Kartel and this saw her serving time in prison and on parole. At this time she released music, singles, EPs and mixtapes, sometimes as Vanessa Bling and sometimes as Gaza Slim. In 2017, she releases a string of singles with producer Marcus Myrie and this led to the 2018 EP, “Still Standing” which included the famous track, “10 Bags”.
