Adde Productions’ Summertime Riddim arrived in 2011 as one of those sleek dancehall projects that sounded tailor-made for the season. Built by Swedish producer Adde Instrumentals and issued through Adidjahiem Records, it was the kind of riddim that sat neatly inside the Portmore Empire wave while still carrying a crisp, European-polished edge. The groove is bright, airy and bounce-heavy, with a clean digital pulse that leaves plenty of space for melody and patois punchlines.

The biggest draws are Vybz Kartel’s “Summer Time” and Popcaan’s “Ravin, ” the two cuts that gave the rhythm its biggest afterlife. Kartel’s tune is pure seasonal branding, catchy and knowing, while Popcaan rides the same frame with the easy swagger that was turning him into a major voice in his own right. Gaza Slim’s “Always” adds a sweeter, more melodic angle, and Shawn Storm’s “Naa Lie” keeps the energy inside the Gaza circle without sounding repetitive. Notch’s “Jump Off, ” Sheba’s “No Stylin, ” and the SingaBlinga and Lenny Mattic collaboration “Happy Melody” widen the palette enough to stop the riddim from becoming a one-note party loop.

There are also version cuts and remix variations, including the instrumental and the Tiana remix entries, which underline how playable the riddim was for juggling. More than a simple summer compilation, this was a well-aimed dancehall package that helped cement Adde’s name in the era and gave Kartel and Popcaan one of 2011’s defining shared backdrops.
