Damian Rhoden, born in Islington, St. Mary, Jamaica is a dancehall and reggae musician. Munga began his music career when he entered the Red Label Wine Superstar Competition in 1997 and “Who Drink Out The Red Label Wine” was his original song. He has a versatile style as Capleton’s prodigy. He was the opening act for Capleton’s tour in 2001. Munga teamed up with top producer Don Corleon in 2005 and that is when his career accelerated with hits like “Bad Like I”, “In My Arms”, “Flippin Rhymez”, “Bad From Me Born”, “Earthquate”, among many others. in 2007, he made a music video for the hit “Bad From Mi Born.” Munga has made known his signature sound,’Yes! Yes!’ and has successfully made his presence felt in all his songs, be it a conscious feel or a gangsta vibe. Munga has reverence and love towards the music fraternity as a whole, particularly those who have heavily influenced his success as a musician such as Capleton, Sizzla, Tiger, Lalumba and Ninjaman also from St Mary. Some of them too being Peter Tosh and The Gong, Pac, Jigga, and a few others. One of the singles he released amongst many in 2017 is “Mi Finger” done in the Phat 40 Riddim. “Nah Mad” was another successful hit which he did a music video in 2019. He is currently working on more projects and collaborations.
