Twelve Thirty Riddim – Diamond Ink Productions

Diamond Ink Productions kept the Twelve Thirty Riddim moving in 2014 with a dancehall set that sits in the party-and-sexual innuendo lane rather than the harder war-ground corner of the genre. The title alone signals the theme: late-night movement, after-hours energy, and the kind of juggling built for sound-system rotation. Diamond Ink had already been active around that period with other dancehall projects, including Diamond Fyah and later Bedtime, and this riddim fits that run of slick, vocal-heavy packages.

The strongest names here are familiar ones from different corners of the Jamaican scene. Alozade, a veteran deejay who came up in the late-1990s dancehall wave, brings streetwise swagger on “Bottle Pon Bottle. ” Laden, known for catchy, melody-forward delivery, handles “Neva Dirty. ” Munga Honorable, a distinctive mid-2000s breakout voice from Islington, keeps his usual sharp edge on “Wah U Do To Mi. ” Navino, from Mandeville, also slots neatly into the set with “Links Dem Tall, ” while Chino Linkz teams with The Jempress on the opener, “We A Party. ”

What makes the riddim work is the contrast between the names and the hooks. The cuts play off a bouncing, club-ready groove, with several tracks issued in clean and raw versions, which tells you the production was aimed squarely at juggling and radio play. “Talk Dem A Talk” from Jahwill and “How U Whining” from Keno Slikaz push the flirtation harder, while “Snakes On A Plane” and “Bend Dem Back” show the set’s more playful, bashment-minded side.
