Kenshin Iryo was born on 1 June 1981 in Stockholm, Sweden and he grew up in the Sollentuna suburb. He is half Japanese and half French. Iryo grew up with immigrants from around the world which contributed to his appreciation of other cultures. At the young age of 9, Iryo experimented with hip-hop. In the Summer of 2005, he reached the finals of “Red Stripe Big Break” which was a yearly talent competition for upcoming artists in Jamaica and it attracted more than 1200 talented applicants. Iryo performed live in St Eliza, Montego Bay and Kingston and he came out 4th in the competition. He broke the record as the first non-Jamaican to ever participate in the competition. Iryo he recorded his debut album in 2007 titled “From A Far” with KBC Music – and it was a mixture of different genres including hip-hop and dancehall and it featured hits like “Miss Fatty”, “Brighter Day” and “Fade Away”. In 2010, he released his second album titled “Everyday” under his own label Adonai Music and the album included hits like “Everyday”, “Love We Deal With”, “Superstar” and it featured artists like Gentleman, Busy Signal and Don Carlos. Iryo also released an EP titled “Songs About You” through the Special Delivery Label. He worked with artists like Beyonce, Mr Vegas and Morgan Heritage. Iryo has been an opening act for artists like Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Neyo, Fabolous and Elephant Man
