Flash Hit Records lines up a thoughtful 2012 dancehall set here, and the title track from Kabaka Pyramid sets the tone with a conscious, uplift-minded message rather than the usual cut-and-clear slackness. Maikal X’s “We Fi Grow” keeps that same progressive spirit, while Pressure’s “Destin For Greatness” and Million Stylez’s “Stay Away From Me” give the riddim some of its sharper hooks. There’s a nice spread of voices too, from Skarra Mucci’s rougher edge on “Easy Life” to Sara Lugo’s gentler turn on “Smile Of A Child, ” so the project doesn’t sit in one mood for too long.
