1king Riddim – Indica Sound

Warm, meditative reggae with a faint dubwise haze runs through 1King Riddim, the 2017 Indica Sound set that sits more in conscious territory than big-room dancehall. The six cuts keep a tight, compact shape, and the mix of voices gives it some range: Inl Jahtoni’s “I Pray” opens with spiritual intent, Ras Jahshua answers with “Con Mi Indica, ” and Leroy Onestone’s “Hard Drugs” adds a sharper street edge. David Fendah linking with Seor R on “Seguir Adelante” widens the palette a bit, but the project keeps returning to Jahba’s “Good Over Devil, ” which feels like the clearest statement here. Indica Sound also closes the loop with the title instrumental, leaving the rhythm itself to carry the mood after the vocals have had their say.
