Melody Riddim (2017) – Bassliner

Nine vocal cuts and a raw version from Bassliner make Melody Riddim feel like a proper little 2017 showcase rather than a throwaway one-off. The title track sits in that rubadub lane with a heavy, melodic bass figure, and the whole set keeps circling that same hooky idea without ever getting too polished. Tippa Irie’s “Universal Love” is an easy early pull, bringing some veteran warmth to the riddim, while Sista Awa’s “Stop Killing” and Petah Sunday featuring Lion Warriah’s “Nuff Melody” give the project a sharper roots-conscious edge. Elsewhere, tracks like “Tribulation” and “Poor People Blood” keep the mood grounded and serious. Released in May 2017, the set came through under 4Weed Records and fits neatly into that Italian rubadub corner Bassliner was carving out around the time.
