Here I Am Riddim – Sound Quake

Sound Quake’s Here I Am Riddim feels leaner than the bigger vocal-heavy sets the crew would later be tied to, and that stripped-back shape suits it. The whole thing runs only four cuts deep, so there’s no dead weight: Cornadoor’s title track keeps the energy taut and direct, while Million Stylez’ “Love We Deal With” brings the sweetest hook in the bunch and gives the riddim a little more lift. The Blender and Cornadoor dub version is the real after-hours move here, letting the rhythm breathe without losing its pull. Released in 2008 and later surfaced in a 2009 Sound Quake present in some listings, it lands right in that era when compact reggae riddims were still doing plenty with a handful of strong voices.
