Fugitive Riddim – Not Nice Records

Four voices, four cuts, and no wasted space: Fugitive Riddim keeps its focus tight with Fantan Mojah’s “Island, ” Mr Bertus’ “Trevor, ” Silvercat’s “Kutchie Well Load, ” and Bobby Tenna’s “Nah Easy. ” Issued in 2008 on Not Nice Records, the set sits in that clean, late-2000s reggae-riddim pocket where the instrumental does the heavy lifting and the singers each get room to carve out their own angle. Fantan Mojah is the name that jumps first, but Bobby Tenna’s “Nah Easy” gives the project a harder edge, bringing some tension to the sequence.
