Green Lion’s More Spiritual Riddim keeps the cast tight: six voices, two turns from Mr. Williamz, and key cuts from Million Stylez, Kabaka Pyramid, Perfect Giddimani and YT give the whole set its shape. The production looks back to Henry “Junjo” Lawes’ Ganja Smuggling melody, but Green Lion pushes it into a cleaner, more contemporary reggae frame, with live horns from Nambo Robinson and Everton Gayle adding lift around the foundation. “We Run England” was the first single out, and it sets the tone with Mr. Williamz working the groove in a sharp, pointed style before Kabaka Pyramid’s “New Year” and Million Stylez’ title track pull the riddim further into conscious territory.
