Exco Levi

Levi moved to Canada in 2005 and began recording soon after, introducing himself with “O’ Canada” in 2007. From there, he became one of the most recognisable voices in Canadian reggae, balancing spiritual themes, social commentary, and dancehall energy. His breakthrough came with “Bleaching Shop,” a sharp, memorable track that helped establish his reputation well beyond the local scene. He followed it with songs such as “Storms of Life,” “Strive,” and “Welcome the King,” all of which strengthened his standing as an artist who could cut through with both message and melody.

A major part of Levi’s story is his long relationship with the JUNO Awards, where he has been repeatedly recognised in the reggae category. That level of consistency reflects not only the strength of his singles, but also the way he has carried reggae’s roots tradition into a Canadian setting without losing its edge. His work with respected producers such as Donovan Germain and Silly Walks further helped define his sound: polished but grounded, contemporary but firmly rooted in classic reggae aesthetics.

Levi’s albums have also marked important stages in that arc. Country Man captured his growing confidence as a recording artist, while Narrative brought together guests such as Sizzla and Raging Fyah and widened his palette. More recently, he has continued to stay active with new material and live performances, keeping his presence felt across the scene. He has also been recognised in Brampton, Ontario, where he has spent much of his Canadian career and where his contribution to local culture earned him a place on the Brampton Arts Walk of Fame.

Across the years, Exco Levi has built a catalogue that connects roots reggae discipline with modern Canadian reggae identity. Whether through socially aware singles, thoughtful albums, or strong stage work, he remains a reliable and respected voice in the genre.
