Rohan Alphonso Stephens was born in Kingston, Jamaica and he grew up in the Waterhouse district of Kingston. He is a popular dancehall deejay who was scouted while still going to school. He attended Kingston College and Rydel High School. After school, Stephens worked at Donovan Germaine’s Penthouse Studios as an apprentice engineer. He made his first recording in 1994 although the song was ever released. In 1998 he became a recording artist and he rose to stardom in 2000 with his track “Courtney” which was a tribute to Courtney Walsh, the cricketer. Some of his other singles included “Sticky”, “Shake It”, and “Dancing Team”.

At the age of 22, Stephens was already working with popular local artists such as Beres Hammond, Beenie Man, Buju Banton and Morgan Heritage. In 2002 he collaborated with a colleague to produce the most popular Diwali Riddim which was a worldwide hit. He has since performed at notable events such as Sting and Stone Love’s Anniversary. He continued producing many riddims and performing at shows like the Reggae Sumfest and Summer Sizzle. He wrote for and collaborated with Wayne Wonder and he’s also known to have co-written Sean Paul’s Trinity Album. In the year 2008, he emigrated to the US and joined the US Army. Here he stated studying for a Video Arts Technology Degree at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
