Squash It Overview
In 1995, a dancehall compilation called Squash It Riddim came out of Jamaica. This release quickly became a favorite in dancehall parties and DJ sets that year. The riddim was built by the well-known producer DIGITAL B, also known as Bobby Digital. He is famous for shaping the sound of 1990s dancehall and for producing big albums like Garnett Silk’s "It’s Growing." His label, Digital B, is respected for high-quality productions that helped define the era. The Squash It Riddim brought together some top artists. Daddy Screw delivered the song "Sweet And Charming," adding his unique style to the mix. Determine brought energy with "Ho La La," a track many fans remember from the dancefloor. Louie Culture’s "Cut And Go Through" is another standout; Louie Culture is also known for his hit "Gangalee," which made a big impact in the mid-90s. Shabba Ranks, one of dancehall’s most recognized voices, appeared with "Teach The Youth The Right Thing." Shabba Ranks is a Grammy winner, taking home the award for Best Reggae Album in both 1992 and 1993. Bobby Digital, the producer, also contributed his own track called "Squash It."
