Shabba Ranks’ “Peeny Peeny” is the pull here, but Digital-b Selections Vol. 1 has the kind of late-’80s dancehall pressure that keeps moving even before it gets to him, with Bunny General, Coco Tea, Courtney Melody and Pad Anthony all sounding right at home over the same slippery footing. The set runs ten cuts deep and keeps the sequencing tight, moving through soundclash talk, lover’s patter and broad dancehall boasts without breaking the momentum. It’s one of those Digital-B packages from 1989 that catches the label in its early, street-level mode, before the name became attached to bigger crossover years. Digital-b Selections Vol. 1 lists ten tracks and ten different artists.
