Ino Ino Records’ 2007 Passager Fort Riddim sits in the label’s reggae catalogue as a neat, roots-conscious set with eight cuts and no wasted space. The rhythm has that steady, sermon-ready feel you’d expect from the year: warm bass, clipped guitar skank, and enough forward motion to keep the singers leaning into the message without rushing it. Anthony B opens with the blunt “Stop Fight Reggae Music, ” while Bushman and Luciano bring the kind of uplift that gives the juggling its centre of gravity; George Nooks and Jah Mason keep the spiritual pressure on from there. Michael Rose’s “Bun Dem” adds a tougher edge before the instrumental Passage Fort closes things out, letting the riddim breathe on its own and underline the project’s plainspoken, no-frills approach.
