Cruising Altitude Riddim came through Rootical Records in 2007 with a strict roots-reggae tone and a strong yard-and-diaspora spread, moving from Chezidek’s “Chant For Life” and I Wayne’s “Burn Disgrace” to Lloyd Brown’s “From The Root” and Lutan Fyah’s “Is This The Way. ” The set keeps its focus on conscious themes, love talk, and uplift, while the vocal mix gives it a nice tilt between Jamaican firebrands and voices like Brown and Pressure Busspipe, who brings a more meditative edge on “Jah Alone. ” Fire Star’s “Reason” and Norris Man’s “Time To Love” help keep the pace steady, but I Wayne’s “Burn Disgrace” lands like the sharpest cut here, all restraint and righteous pressure over a clean, cruising groove.
