TAKEOVER RIDDIM produced by COREY TODD RECORDS 2011
Takeover Overview
In 2011, some of dancehall’s biggest names came together over one riddim, making a lasting mark on the genre. Aidonia, known for his energetic style and songs like “Yeah Yeah,” brought two tracks to the project: “Miss Yuh Fuck” and “Miss Yuh Touch.” Beenie Man, a Grammy-winning artist famous for hits such as “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” added his own flavor with “Young Bud.” Charley Blacks, who would later find international success with “Party Animal,” kept the energy high on “Gyal A Bruk Out.” D Angel, recognized for her solo work and collaborations with Bounty Killer, delivered “Hot Fi Dem.” Dosa Medicine also joined the lineup with “Nuh Fear.” The party atmosphere of the riddim was carefully crafted by COREY TODD RECORDS. Corey Todd, a known entrepreneur and music promoter in Jamaica, helped shape the modern dancehall sound through his work with Vybz Kartel and the launching of Street Vybz Rum. His label became a force in the early 2010s, producing riddims that filled dance floors across the island. The “Takeover Riddim” became a favorite for selectors and DJs, who still use it today to bring back classic dancehall vibes. Its infectious beats and memorable songs make it a timeless choice for any party, showing why it set the tone for dancehall in 2011.
