SMILE RIDDIM produced by STUDIO 1 1968-200X
Smile Overview
Rocksteady is a style of Jamaican music that started in the late 1960s. It is known for its steady rhythm, smooth vocals, and relaxed groove. Today, elements of rocksteady can still be heard in modern reggae, bringing together classic and new sounds. The new Smile Riddim compilation uses this rocksteady flow and features well-known reggae artists. Alpheus, who is recognized for his work in the revival reggae scene, brings his song "Mrs Right" to the mix. Glen Washingtone, famous for his hit "Kindness For Weakness," delivers "Wages Of Sin," showing his soulful voice. Rod Taylor, known for his roots reggae classics, adds "Want Your Loving" to the collection. The Blackstones, a vocal harmony group from London, are included with "I Wanna Hold You." The Jay's, known for their 1970s hit "Queen Majesty," appear with "Good Love Affair." The Silvertones perform "Smile," and Willie Williams, who is famous for the reggae anthem "Armagideon Time," contributes "Jah Righteous Plan." STUDIO 1, the legendary Jamaican label founded by Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, produced this project. STUDIO 1 is often called the "Motown of Jamaica" and has launched many reggae stars. Today, Smile Riddim is part of popular reggae playlists, keeping the rocksteady spirit alive for new listeners.
