Birchill Records keeps Sambana in that sweet 100 BPM pocket where the drums sit loose but the bounce stays firm enough for dances and radio alike. The riddim dropped in 2020, with Andrew Myrie, better known as Birch, steering the production through his Birchill imprint. That makes sense for a label that has spent years balancing sleek dancehall with crossover-ready hooks, and a catalogue that already includes names like Salsa, Thriller, Military, Gangsta Rock, My Swing and Wild Tonight.

The line-up is concise but useful. Charly Black returns with Comfortable in both clean and raw versions, which is a reminder of how naturally he can turn a simple, elastic hook into something that travels. Ding Dong’s Reach The Sky brings his usual dancer’s instinct, light on its feet and built for movement. Vershon’s Ben It also gets the clean/raw treatment and gives the riddim a grittier edge. Lanae’s Party Time Calling adds a female voice to the juggling, while G and Stretch’s Holla keeps the selector-friendly energy moving through the middle of the set.

What makes Sambana work is the way it leaves space for each artist to stamp the same rhythm differently.
