Shab Don Records had already carved out a lane in the new-school dancehall space by the time World Government Riddim landed in January 2020, following the momentum of earlier projects like G6ixx. The label, run by Linval “Shabba” Thompson Jr. and Carlos Clarke, had become known for a harder, hybrid trap-dancehall sound, and this riddim sits right in that pocket: dark, forward-driving, and built for big system replay. The release arrived on January 10, 2020, and the digital edition was distributed through 21st Hapilos.

The headline cut is Vybz Kartel’s World Government, a politically charged anthem that turns the title into a claim of authority, with a tense, propulsive bounce underneath. Ding Dong’s Fi Wi Dancehall flips the same rhythm into a dancer’s tune, carrying the riddim with chant-heavy energy and crowd-magnet hooks. Chronic Law’s Cyaah Stop and Squash’s Mighty keep the tone rugged and street-level, while Daddy1’s Trending King brings a younger 6ix-flavoured swagger to the pattern.

Demarco’s Sinking Boat adds veteran bite, and Rygin King’s New Machine gives the riddim one of its more melodic, fluid moments. Teejay’s High Grade, Sikka Rymes’ Loyalty, and Shawn Storm’s No Sketts round out the set with different shades of grit, humor, and street ambition.
