Simple Ting Riddim arrived in early 2020 from Yung Smurph and Frenz For Real, with a cut-down but effective dancehall cast anchored by Beenie Man, D’Angel, Intence, I Waata, Vershon, Pele Wong and Zenny. The release landed on February 10, 2020, and the version spread through the usual digital channels under Yung Smurph/Frenz For Real, with 11 tracks and 8 unique artists in rotation.

The riddim has that hard dancehall snap that leaves room for the deejays to work: lean drum programming, a clipped bassline, and enough space in the instrumental for sharp phrasing and call-and-response hooks. It sits in the modern hardcore lane, but it does not overcomplicate itself. That simplicity is the point.

Beenie Man’s “My Money” gives the set instant weight, especially coming from an artist whose name still carries across generations of dancehall. D’Angel brings a confident, suggestive turn on “Dancehall Trouble, ” while Intence’s “Same Girl” keeps the energy younger and more street-facing. I Waata appears twice with “Love Play” and “Fuck Play, ” pushing the riddim into more explicit, rough-edged territory. Vershon’s “Sweet You” gets both clean and raw versions, and Zenny does the same with “Brace and Katch, ” which makes the project feel built for selectors as much as streaming listeners. Pele Wong’s “Physically Psycho” fills out the frame with another tough, party-ready cut.
